The enactment of Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 was a step to curb economic insecurity due to massive industrialisation and urbanisation. Since then the scope of the Act has been gradually enlarged and developed into a comprehensive provident-cum pension system.
The three Schemes Framed are:
* Employees Provident Funds Scheme, 1952;
* Employees Deposit-Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976; and
* Employees Pension Scheme, 1995. (Earlier Employeesâ€™ Family Pension Scheme, 1971).
